Throughout Sokov's long-standing career of commissioned portraiture, he has worked with prestigious clients such as The Crown Prince of Bahrain, The Vice President of United Arab Emirates, Arnold Schwarzenegger and several Fortune 500 corporate clients to bring their unique vision to life. His goal above all is to memorialize a window into your life; encapsulating this cherished moment in a timeless work of art.

Commissioned portraiture is often considered the most challenging discipline in art. It is a complicated dance that combines years of artistic mastery and a deep understanding of the client's perspective to create a unique piece of meaningful art. Historically, commissioned portraiture was indispensable to the aristocracy of the world for thousands of years; this artform would memorialize accomplishments and honor loved ones. The sheer difficulty of this discipline has diminished the artistic talent pool. Sokov is one of the few remaining practitioners of this centuries-old traditional art form.

PRICING

The price varies based on several factors.

  • Size of the painting (18x24, 36x24, and 30x40 inches are the most common sizes)
  • The complexity of the painting: (number of people, background, etc)
  • Painting from life or photo
  • The quality of the photo reference

THE PREMIERE EXPERIENCE

 

The term one-of-a-kind is so commonly used and so often misleading that people feel wary when they see it promoting an event or experience. Sokov's team has come up with a Premiere Experience for high-end clients that will destroy all expectations and offer the client a once in a lifetime opportunity to work up close and personal with Mr. Sokov. WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

The first step to realizing your artistic vision is to apply for one of the five spots available each year through the CONTACT form.  Please include:

  • The photo reference you intend to get painted. Include all possible photos of the subject. If this is a life painting, you can include examples of what you want yours to be like
  • Your vision for the painting. What would you like to see created from this reference?
  • The size of the painting you intend to have made in inches: 9x12, 11x14, 18x24, 36x24, 40x30, 48x36, etc
  • Is this piece meant for a specific event?

If you are chosen by the artist to work on a commissioned portrait together, the process will continue in the following way:

  • A deposit will be sent via wire transfer or Paypal. Once the deposit is received, this secures your position. If the artist is not currently painting a previous commission, he will start working on the project immediately.
  • If the photo references were not adequate, the artist will need to travel to you to take photos (for additional costs) or you can reshoot the reference according to the guidance provided by the artist. Remember that the quality of the reference dictates the potential of the final painting. The artist wants to make sure that all his commissioned portraits realize their potential by having adequate reference to work from.
  • If  you got the Premiere Experience Package, the artist will travel to you to set up the pose in a location of your choosing and paint a small study from life as well as do a photo-shoot to recreate the full size painting using both the small life study and the photos. The life study typically takes 6-8 hours of posing and will greatly help to enhance the final painting. The artist can suggest where in your home to hang the final piece based on his experience. Other personalized services will be provided based on your unique needs.
  • Once the painting is complete, Sokov will take a professional photo for your approval. Once the painting is accepted, Sokov will varnish the painting and the remainder of the payment will be due.
  • Once the final payment arrives, the team will ship out your painting using your shipper of choice.
  • Sokov can work with you to suggest the creation of the perfect frame for your one of a kind painting. He has access to the best frame craftsmen who can create bespoke frames to your specifications like the ones seen below. The frame is included in the Premiere Experience Package.
