“The Royal Ardah” the dance of swords. 11x14 inches. Originally this dance of swords, drums and spoken poetry was performed before going to war, but nowadays it is performed at many different types of events. I always loved this historic black and white photo of King Abdulaziz leading the sword dance and decided to attempt an 11x14 inch color sketch of this scene for a Saudi friend of mine. The photo is so small and blurry that I could only make a small sized sketch of it, but ultimately I am looking to paint a giant recreation of this scene in full detail and color, fit for museums. I want to seek out the correct garments, swords and drums to make sure it will be the most epic Saudi history painting ever made.
